We belong here!

I know from my personal life, I’ve come across plenty of slurs and racist antics thrown my way. I come from an immigrated family from Mexico. I am a U.S. citizen along with my brother and even my parents have managed to become citizens as well. I started to take note in high school when I was in these AP/Honor classes that there were a lacking number of hispanics in these courses. Right now, hispanics or the latino community is being targeted with the aid of Donald Trump’s assumptions that we are killers or somehow connected to the violence Mexico is enduring. I see myself as no different than anyone else in this world. I treat everyone with the upmost respect and try to live a life of expressing love and sharing it. This reflects the struggles I had to endure but yet chose a different path.I had decided that I am very much capable of being in rigorous courses and even go to college. I am Mexican, and nothing will take that away from me. We Mexicans or Hispanics (which ever you categorize yourself with) are capable of achieving not just a higher education but we are capable of all the advantages we have in the United States. We are not murders, rapist, or stupid. You must make a declaration within yourself that you will be a better example that will reflect not just your culture but who you want to become. We immigrants have just as much the right to be in this country yet alone in college. We belong here!
