I wish someone had a genuine talk with me before I left for college to explain the many changes that I would have to endure while being away at college. There is something to be said about how much us as young people like to know what’s going to happen next. Something that I learned right away was that you never know how college will influence you. I am for certain not the 18 year old young man that I was when I first arrived at San Jose State. Initially I was stressing over what I was going to do for the rest of my life. Coming to college you’re almost forced to choose the next 5 years plus of your life. The thing is, not everyone know’s what they want to study and pursue when they first arrive at college. Allow for time to influence your career choice. It’s ok not knowing what you want to major in. I came into San Jose State declared as a Psychology major, I eventually switched to Journalism. I allowed time to reveal to me what I think I am good at and then pursue it.
